7 días en La Habana

My dears, You are in treat this time here! BIG TIME!

I’ve got an amazing movie to watch for you - 7 DAYS IN HAVANA. You may not have visited Cuba in the real life yet, but the film will definitely bring you the entire 100% authentic atmosphere of it. Unique and incredibly talented actors, wonderfully charming characters, breathtaking cinematography (!!!), awesome locations, hospitable & passionate culture and perfect music! Co-productions of Spain, France and Cuba totally nailed it - worked out brilliantly and you can feel it in each moment of the movie. The type of the movie reminds me of other my beloved movies such as “Coffee & Cigarettes”, “Paris, je t’aime”, “New York, I love You”, the productions of Wes Andersen, Jim Jarmusch and similar. My feeling about this movie in one sentence: IT REVEALS THE TRULY MOST IMPORTANT THINGS TO PEOPLE AND REVEALS THE TRUE BEAUTY OF PEOPLE!

Bienvenidos a La Habana!

I just got melted and got familiar with the characters so much in “Jam Session” Tuesday with Pablo Trapero and Emir Kusturic (starts at 20:37 minute) because of the warmth and genuinity (aka what I meant by ” IT REVEALS THE TRULY MOST IMPORTANT THINGS TO PEOPLE AND REVEALS THE TRUE BEAUTY OF PEOPLE” above). No masks needed when there’s a magic jam session of life with us every single moment! (watch one of the scenes of this part below)

My ultimate mind blower of this movie is the part “Diary of a Beginner” Thursday, with Elia Suleiman (starts at 55:00 minute). Elia Suleiman’s GENIUS!!!! cinematography in terms of beauty of each shot is my ultimate favorite. The aesthetics, minimalism, composition of the shot and the execution of the main character - perfections! (I’m happy to know I discovered one more icon to follow and be inspired by - Elia Suleiman)(watch a video brief what idea’s Elia had in his mind for his part in the movie below)

Welcome to the Lithuanian “Burning man” type art madness which never ends and keeps expanding

*Meet me in Vilnius

photography by C. Cesnakevicius

Welcome to Uzupis Republic. Artist area: very boho-type district in one of the oldest and the most authentic locations of Vilnius (my home city and capital of Lithuania). Charming, unique, mad, mysterious and a must visit place in Europe. Expected the next Christiania (Danish autonomous neighborhood of artists in Copenhagen)  of Europe - to be.

Uzupis - politically very straight forward, brave, active, initiative and supportive area in the worldly issues, such as Tibet, Nepal, other controversial topics.

In the photo: white stork in the main square of Uzupis, graphically mixed with a hint of the desert.

White stork is one of the most iconic, symbolic, very closely culturally related, yet sadly extincting, birds of Lithuania. White storks every year leaves Lithuania to spend winters in Morocco, more warm deserted areas, and each spring they come back home to Lithuania to expand their families here. It’s also believed by Lithuanians for hundreds of years now, that if white storks build the nest in the territory of your home - it’s a blessing and good luck. If you get to see the even number of white storks - it’s going to be the promising year for those who look for the partner in life or / and wish to expand the family with the newborns.

Galera - gallery, place for summits, workshops & summer night cinema in the open-air

Come to Uzupis, experience the unique atmosphere. If you are an artist - it’s a perfect place for inspiration. I would definitely suggest to come and join other artists from all over the world, to create something new, great and unconventional. There is no place to be exactly like Uzupis anywhere in the world - which means it is a true undiscovered Gem & treasure on the map of the world. I would call this place “Burning Man type art madness with Lithuanian twist which never ends and keeps expanding!”

Meet me in Vilnius!

Yours,

Barcode: edgy & luxurious

This is how my state of mind & perception looks like visually:

They say that sometimes it takes even longer than the life lasts to finally figure it out - who you are, what you like and love, what you stand for and most importantly who&what is ‘yours’ from the bottom of the heart, when no social cliches are applied and you’re absolutely honest with your self no matter what.

…At other times it just clicks, downs on you when you meet someone or see something and you just know - it’s yours. After that you may start the denial part, but I guess that is just too little too late, since subconscious mind just spoke louder than what so ever else could.

Here’s my subconscious mind out loud - I saw and just knew that that’s exactly what I always had in my mind while mentioning “the most edgy in commercial state of mind environment and the most commercial in edgy state of mind environment”.

behind the scenes:

this is the original photo (see above), which caught my attention (while by the very first glance it got completely sold by mix of YSL & tattoo on hand in one pic). Though, after the mere moment, when I noticed the face, I realized - this part is already a bit over the top even for me. Still must admit - generally it looks really kinda cool, ah? ;)

..And some people say that there are no coincidences in life, but let’s leave this part to discuss the other time. I’ll just mention that couple of days back I shared this video on my facebook wall with the comment “worth watching”, now after almost finishing this blog post I noticed - it’s the same guy.

Last thing to say? - undoubtedly - LIFE’S BEAUTIFUL & FULL OF SURPRISES!

p.s. What’s your barcode?

Holy trinity of boutique lifestyle

If someone asked me to continue the title of this post it would sound “Holy trinity of boutique lifestyle or holy trinity of my personal boutique lifestyle approach”. The best thing about boutique lifestyle and one of the biggest reasons I prefer boutique luxury over standardised luxury is the factor of personalization, exclusivity and by all means as fewer “mass - what so ever” as possible. So after having those three photos on my desktop ready to be uploaded to my blog (separately in different posts), I realized that they all have something in common after all. Now I know - it perfectly highlights one of the options of how I’d have my day while leading my boutique (unique, PERSONALIZED, not compromised) lifestyle.

1. Holy trinity of boutique lifestyle: breakfast in your personal pool.

2. Holy trinity of boutique lifestyle: lunch on the top of the world or pre-war building in the heart of New York.

3. Holy trinity of boutique lifestyle: mussels according to french recipe dinner under the chandeliers on the coast.

p.s. Because the biggest luxury is time, the option to choose and getting one and only. Asking of mass - customization? - this time I agree with the idea that sometimes the answer is in the question it self! Being more clear - mass is never exclusive. So if exclusivity defines the quality and luxury, then boutique defines the ultimate luxury.

Cheers, My Dears,

Always Yours,

Posh Yang

Epic Falling Water Illusion

Epic architecture by genius architect Frank Lloyd Wright - “Fallingwater” country house:

Dramatic cantilevered terraces / illusion of water flowing out from beneath the middle of the house / the warm glow from the interior lighting resonating with the autumn colors / harmonious and natural relationship to the setting / strong horizontal lines balanced by the almost unbroken vertical lines in the tower / water moving horizontally in the stream (Bear run) and vertically as “falling water” in the form of waterfalls / and the sound of the flowing water filling the house continuously.

In Wright’s statements his principles are denoted by words embodying deep intuitions: organic, democratic, plasticity, continuity.

” To Wright, architecture was a great inclusive agency through which humankind adapted the environment to human needs and, reciprocally, attuned human life to its cosmos; amid continual changes architecture could keep human life more natural and nature more humane. This idea pervades Fallingwater in accord with the aims of both architect and client, and gives it not only basic meaning but also powerful subliminal appeal.” (Edgar Kaufmann, Jr.)

Harmony in chaos: literally on the top of the world

Finally found the the place I could call almost the exact reflection of the picture i’ve created in my mind as the perfect place somewhere high.

I often get the feeling of strong urge to be somewhere in the open air, high (literally a top of the world), where it’s quite, peaceful and all the things that usually are seen as separate pieces come into one eventually joint puzzle. I believe that’s the case when you eventually realize how the world works in what people sometimes may call harmony in the chaos. So far between Vilnius and Delhi I have discovered couple of places where I get the feeling of “sitting on the top of the world” but this place (photos above and below the paragraph) takes the cake, at least regarding what you can get in urbanized areas (obviously place in wild nature somewhere close to the highest and the most powerful waterfalls would be completely different case). Ladies & Gents, put one more point on your “Places to visit” list - Marina Bay Sands Sky Park in Singapore. (below you can see more pictures, to get the feeling of the place as close to what is reality as possible). Enjoy!

p.s. an hour after I finished this post, I found the other blog post on exactly “best rooftops in the world”! So I’m definitely sharing it with you! Read here
